GE at 2003 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship
New York City, October 4
General Electric sent 3 teams to compete in the 2003 JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship race in New York City. This race is the culmination of a series of qualifying races held in cities across the USA and the world, with winning teams eligible to compete in the finals. GE qualified men's and mixed teams in the Albany race in May, and a men's team in the Chicago race in August. So 12 GE corporate athletes took to the streets of NYC to compete against teams from IBM, AT&T, Eastman Kodak, Royal Mail, Roche, Merrill Lynch, Texas Instruments, and a host of other corporations.
The 3.5 mile race is held on Park Avenue in the heart of Manhattan - the only time all year that Park Avenue is closed to traffic! GE runners took advantage of the ideal conditions to post some strong performances. The mixed team from Albany finished 5th, the Chicago men's team finished 6th, and the Albany men's team was right behind in 7th. GE was the only company to have 3 top-ten team finishes!
